Informal Incumbent Reviews

Reviewing the performance of incumbent legislators is an important part of effectively achieving OFBF policy at the state and national level. Reviewing the performance of those that represent us will hold them accountable and will help determine if Farm Bureau will support their bid for re-election.

The informal incumbent review process begins when county Farm Bureau boards of trustees take time during the board meeting to discuss each incumbent legislator's job performance using a review form provided by the OFBF public policy staff.  The form asks county Farm Bureau boards to discuss and rate the legislator's willingness to meet with and work on issues important to the county Farm Bureau.  Once the completed review forms are submitted to OFBF, public policy staff review the county comments along with the legislator's voting record on key votes and their responses to candidate questionnaires.

This review process provides public policy staff with the input and analysis necessary to make a recommendation to the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation Agriculture for Good Government Political Action Committee (OFBF-AGGPAC) as to whether or not the incumbent legislator should recieve support for their campaign and Farm Bureau's Friend of Agriculture award.
